| Every
year Scottish Heritage USA's Board of Directors selects a slate
of projects to underwrite during the following year. The majority
of those projects are associated with The National Trust for Scotland's
properties and programs. However, from time to time we have underwritten
other projects consistent with our "People to People"
philosophy, which have been brought to our attention by other Scottish
organizations.
Over
the course of its history our members' support has enabled Scottish
Heritage USA to donate more than one million dollars to a great
variety of National Trust for Scotland projects. Scottish Heritage
USA has helped to restore castles and cottages in the Trust's care,
provided transportation for disabled visitors, conserved the countryside
and historic sites and restore Scotland's beautiful gardens.

Each year Scottish Heritage USA holds a members' gathering, to which
we invite a National Trust for Scotland speaker to talk to our members
about a wide variety of subjects. It is a grand opportunity to meet
National Trust for Scotland personnel and hear the very latest Trust
news.
We
have underwritten lecture tours for authorities on such subjects
as Scotland's great residences, Crathes Garden, Culloden Battlefield,
Scotland's treasures and the history of The National Trust for Scotland.

Scottish
Heritage USA also supports symposia and programs at the Scottish
Heritage Center at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg,
N.C. We have also established an endowment to support the Heritage
Center's library, named for the Reverend Dougald Lachlan Maclean,
Scottish Heritage USA's former Chairman of the Board.
